Until I read this book.
To be honest, I read the first chapter, took a 'how savvy of a shopper are you?' quiz, received a horrible score (making me an 'impulse shopper'!) and hated Erin Chase for implying that.
But then I became slightly intrigued.
Once I started reading, I realized that I have some things to learn! Her whole book is made up of how to plan meals, shop wisely, coupon (something I think I'll try), and then a ton of $5 dinner recipes. Now, in my defense, we usually eat supper for less than $5. But the reason is that I purposely make our meals last two nights. Once the kids begin eating more--that won't always work. But she has some really good ideas in this book.
And the coupon-ing thing? I'm hoping that I can figure out a way to make that work. To me--it seems like a lot of detail work. But through Erin's ideas (and some help from another coupon-crazy friend) I'm hoping I'll be able to save even more money and prepare healthier meals for my family.
I received my first Sunday edition of the Wichita eagle today, clipped all the coupons, and then stared at them wondering how in the world I'll do this.
Oh well...it's a new challenge, right?

let me know how it goes. all of that deep couponing stuff scares me!
mmm. that DOES sound good! I might have to try them, even though I would be the only one in my family to eat them. They all hate avocados. hm...
Hey, I know her! She has jewelry from us. :)
I'm trying to coupon a lot more this year. Joel asked Mitch about the coupons from our Sunday Eagle. I'll try to go through them on Sunday afternoons and then send the leftovers with Mitch on Monday mornings. This will force me to go through them sooner. If you can use any of them, knock yourself out!
I started couponing this year and love it! There's a small learning curve, but you'll get the hang of it in no time. I found a local blog that spelled out all the local grocery ads and which coupons to use with the ads. Get a coupon organizer!
Glad you like the book. :) Some days I coupon...some days I don't. I also make meals last more than one night - but those kids are growing fast! Happy couponing!
