C-H-U-B-B-Y

More pictures of our chubby little guy. We've had a rough morning--he spit up all over himself and I spilled my bowl of cereal on him. Then I knocked the baby shampoo bottle over and it hit his eye. Oh well, a nice walk calmed him down.

It's been over a month!

You heard us right--we haven't had to cook our own meal since Tuesday, March 27th! We have been extremely blessed to have Joel's family here for week, followed by 3 weeks of meals from friends in our small group and church! So tonight, we grilled pork chops. Wow...31 days. And to top it off, Oliver actually slept through our meal IN HIS CRIB, so it really felt like old times.

The Many Faces...

Here are a few random poses of our little Ollie.

He was in the middle of a funny dream here--it's
a little blurry--but you get the picture! He has started smiling when his eyes are open now--we don't think it's intentional yet--but it sure is cute!

Here is Ollie with cousin Abi. She came down to visit from Indiana with Joel's family and was a big help!!! They clicked, as you can see.

"Cousins don't shake hands...cousins gotta hug!" Well, at least stare at each other! Addy and
Ollie played together for the first time Easter Sunday. Here they are in their cute little outfits.

Like father, like son...can you see the resemblance(s)? Joel's way with
Ollie is something else--in the middle of a cry, Oliver will quiet down when he hears Dad's voice. And those two can sit for quite some time doing nothing (quite happily, too!)

Two of his favorite things...
1. Cubs
2. Milk. We weighed him today--he has gained 10 ounces in 6 days...what a porker!!! He now weighs 8lb 11oz.

Are You Kidding Me?????

Hi. This is me, Oliver. This is my first post on the blog, so bear with me. I've watched mommy and daddy do this alot--so hopefully I'll be able to figure it out.

As you can tell by the expression on my face, I am a little annoyed lately. Here's why: I was born at the end of March (which I hear is supposed to be spring) and all I've seen is cold weather! Last week we got several inches of snow on Thursday, and then again today we got tons of snow! It is very pretty and white, but I thought we were supposed to have sun and warm weather so I could go on lots of walks with mommy and daddy! Maybe I'll move to Florida...

Here is a picture of our yard in the snow. Jay Prater (my favorite meteorologist on channel 10) says we're supposed to get more tonight!!!!

Joel's Projects

Ollie is sleeping peacefully. He's probably making up for last night. It wasn't a bad night by any means--but just when we are getting used to waking up twice (at 2 and 6) he changes things on us. Last night he woke at 12, 3 and 6. Silly little boy.

Anyway--Joel has been starting a few projects with his extra time. Yesterday we went to Lowe's and bought laminate flooring for our back mud room, and tile for that back bathroom. He started the laminate project yesterday when we got back. He's made great progress! It helps that the flooring underneath was good and ready for the next layer--unlike our kitchen 3 years ago--Joel and a friend had to flood the whole kitchen to scrape off the layers of ancient glue that held down the...ahem...green, orange, yellow and red carpet (yes, that's right!). But this should make that back room look really nice--and be much easier to clean than green carpet. Seriously--let's stop using carpet for these high-traffic, dirt-prone areas!!!!!

Easter Babies

We went to my (Kendall) parents house for Easter Sunday. We went for church, and then enjoyed lunch and the afternoon with my whole family. One fun thing was having Oliver and Addilyn (Tyler and Erin's daughter) meet and interact...if you can call it that. I had the brilliant idea to take their pictures in an Easter basket with these adorable hats on. Well--the problem was that we never had a moment when one wasn't crying. And as you can see, we had many moments when they both were!!! It was fun to try...we have some funny video that we can show at their weddings someday...

Week One

My mom and two of my sisters (Sara and Karla) just left town today, they have been here since Tuesday. My mom stayed with us, which was of great help, while my sisters and their families stayed with my aunt Marge and uncle Ed. They threw a shower for us at the Rec Center on Friday and it was amazing. We will post some pictures of it sometime. The shower had a baseball theme. There were Cubs plates, cups, forks, and napkins. The food consisted of Chicago style hot dogs, soft pretzels, nachos, and root beer. My niece Abi was the vendor, she carried popcorn, peanuts, and rope licorice in a vendor like box, just like at baseball games. And of course we got tons of sports clothing and toys.
Since my sister Karla was in town we took advantage of her and have more pictures for you to view:
Oliver One Week pics
Now we will try to get into a routine at home. I will be off for one more week while Kendall has off until the next school year at that point she will be teaching part-time.
Happy Easter to everyone.

Sleepy Head

We had a rough first night. Ollie stayed up until 4:30--and then decided to sleep...for one hour. But he is beginning to eat regularly and sleep at better times--although it helped to have Grandma Smith around last night. Joel and Kendall got some much needed sleep! This is how Ollie looks much of the time. And he is wearing a cute outfit from Grandma and Grandpa Johnson. (But he's still a little small.) We are enjoying our little bundle quite a bit. And it's great to have Joel's family around to enjoy him, too!

Home at Last

Well, we are now home, finally. 72 hours in the hospital was plenty for us. Oliver passed all of his final tests, so we were released around 7pm. He has pretty much slept all day long and now at 9pm he is wide awake, we are expecting a long night. He was circumcised around 5pm, I'm glad they do that when they are young, it sounds very painful. If you would like to know more about his manliness, I have a great story the doctor today told us about him but its not really meant for a blog.
Grandma Smith will be here tomorrow to meet her seventh grandchild. The first four were girls and now the last three were boys.
We really hope Oliver likes his new home. We want to thank everyone for their prayers and support, we are truly blessed
