Thank you, Sandra Boynton

Now, I'll give her credit--she's a wonderful author! We love the book "Moo, Baa, La La La". We read it almost every night!

But here's the thing. Part of it reads,

"Three singing pigs say 'La la la'. "No, no, you say.
That isn't right! Pigs say 'oink', all day and night."

However, as you'll see from this video, Ollie missed that last part...

And here are some pics from our great time with Chelsie, Rachael and Braylon (my best friend from Clay Center and her sis and nephew):

Mmmmm.....mud!

Yep. Today we had our first "official" mud-tasting event. We knew it was coming, we'd been forewarned. We managed to catch quite a bit of it on camera--so here are some highlights, along with some other happenings of our day: wearing Daddy's sweatshirt, taking a bath, and playing in the sandbox.
And these last few are from our last movie night with Mark and Lisa Habluetzel, my brother, Tyler and Erin and Addilyn and Courtney. We made waffles and watched episode-after-episode of "The Office". (Also, my brother and his wife are moving to Houston, TX this weekend--so this was our farewell to them. Tyler is working for NASA.)

Sleep Strike #149

Today, our darling son is choosing again to boycott his nap. This week he has stayed up several mornings for an hour in his crib playing. And today, we've been trying since 2 to get him to take an afternoon nap. Current time? 4:38. We've even tried strapping him in his carseat! If he didn't sleep well at night we'd be worried. Instead, we're annoyed. He's tired, we know--the red eyes say it all. After cuddling him a bit, I laid him back down and sat down at the computer in the next room. Shortly, I heard something that couldn't have come from his crib. Upon walking in there, I found this:
Where did he get the book? you might ask...
We thought that bookshelf was far enough away! If he wasn't so darn cute...hmm.....well, good thing he's cute!

Shoes

Okay, so like my mom, I am a sucker for cute, cheap shoes. I have been eyeing these little sporty flats at Walmart for a while now--today I went and tried them on, and then bought them. They are SO COMFY!!! And I think I may have to go get another color. I love them. Now, I have only worn them for 10 minutes now--but if you're looking for cute comfy cheap shoes--go try them out!!!

Good Advice

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you just feel like you're not doing well at anything? Like you're failing so many things? Well, that was my last week. I didn't have horrible things happen--I just didn't feel like I was doing all I could in the area of teaching, being a wife, and being a mom. I was very frustrated with myself. Then, as I was talking to Joel Saturday night, he reminded me that: #1 It's okay to fail. #2 I don't have to be perfect. Now seriously, I know those don't sound like big revelations--but I struggle with that SO much!!! So, it was wonderfully freeing to hear that again, from my husband. So to anyone out there who has had that week--let me remind you--It's okay to fail! And, you don't have to be perfect...seriously.

Playing with Daddy

One of my favorite people in the WHOLE world is Daddy. He is so fun to play with!!! He wrestles with me and chases me and makes my hands rub on his scratchy face! It is so funny. I can hardly stop laughing when he does that!

Sometimes, he tries out some pretty funny things. One day, after setting up my big basketball goal, he decided to crawl into the box. I wasn't so sure about that idea...but I tried it anyway...
It got a little hot in there...so I came out. Daddy stayed in there...
I started getting worried after a few minutes, so being the caring son that I am, I went over and checked on him.
He did end up coming out--phew--that was a close one!

Finally, here is a video of Daddy helping me do a puzzle. This is actually a puzzle that HE had when he was little! (No wonder he's so good at it!)

Our Garden!

It's that time of year again--when we shop for our garden seeds! Today we planted most of our garden. Sometime this summer, we'll be harvesting: raspberries, spinach, lettuce, radishes, green peppers, jalapenos, red, yellow and green onions, carrots, asparagus, rhubarb, basil, and tomatoes (we didn't plan those yet, though). I can't wait!!! I'm especially excited to make the basil/tomato salad from Karla (it's super easy, too!) and our homeade salsa. We found an amazing recipe last year, and it involves three kinds of onions, tomatoes and garlic. Mmmmm!!! Anyway--hopefully we'll update once things start to bloom!
I'm also heading out later to plant my pots for our porch and back shed. Hopefully I can keep these alive this year. I'm trying potato vines, which do well in Kansas, as well as petunias, pansies, and some other daisy-looking flower.

Okay, okay. I'll include an Ollie picture!!!! (Just because you asked...) Here is his newest "fun thing"--tackling the pillows on a bed.
