Be-Bop

Last year, at our Parents as Teachers party, Ollie got a book called "Charlie Parker Plays BeBop". It was literally our LEAST favorite book to read to Ollie because it didn't seem to make any sense. But, he loved it. We read it over and over and over again. (I will say that I have a little more "style" when I read it--Joel monotones it.) Anyway--Ollie has memorized the entire book. So here's our rendition of "Be Bop". Ollie was a bit distracted by the juice, but you'll hear most of it.
(Oh, and the bed in the background? That's our attempt at keeping him in his bed. It works quite well.)

His

Many of you know the McClenahans, but for those of you who don't, they are some of our BEST friends. Their little girl, Cora, was diagnosed this weekend with cancer. She begins chemo Monday or Tuesday this week. They don't know much yet about how responsive it will be to the chemo--in fact, they won't know that for a week or more.
In the meantime, we wait and pray. We know God is good. We know He is in control. He loves Cora more than any of us do--even her parents.

God gives us these little ones to care for--even THEY are His. So I hug mine a little tighter and more often now. And pray.

A lot.

Weigh In!

This little girl is not going to stay little for long! At her two week appointment yesterday, she was 7lbs 11oz--half a pound over birth weight! Even Ollie didn't gain that quickly. And I'm glad to hear she is--she eats so fast that sometimes I wonder if she's getting enough. But the ever-growing double chin should give us a clue...

Bridal Show

We participated in the Bridal Fair in Wichita this past weekend to advertise our Photobooth Company. It was obviously our first formal "thing". It went really well, though, and was so much fun. The only downside was that it was only 5 days after Lily was born--so we were busy last week with her and getting ready for the show. My sister, luckily, was willing to help with the show, so between the three of us, we had it covered. Here are two pictures of our booth at the show:

Okay, so I guess the only difference between these two photos is Joel. But oh well. You can see our examples of prints, the slideshow on the TV, the cool signage...pretty official! :-) But we sure wish we could have had our booth there--it was have been AWESOME!!! So far though, we've had a lot of interest in the booth. It's pretty exciting!

Kid for Sale

Well, so I might be exaggerating...maybe. Ollie's newest "no-no" on our adventure of adjusting to baby sister was drinking and pouring red food coloring all over himself and our pantry floor. I should have gotten a picture but I was too mad.

His lips, hands and feet are going to be quite red for a while.

Luckily it came off the floor.

Joel ran him to the bath, here is a picture of the red water and his red hands. Doesn't he look remorseful?
In general, he loves his sister, has only hit her twice, and is sleeping well again. But boy is he trying hard to get our attention!!!!!!

On a good note, we wrapped Ollie up like a baby this morning and he had fun laying in her "manger". Then we stuck Lily in, too.

We DO love our kids. Really. But boy, this older one sure knows how to test our patience!!!!!

Brotherly Love

Ollie ADORES his little sister. When I changed her diaper last night, he wanted to lay down, too, to have his changed.
He's helping her sit up by his bear.

Here he is checking on her in her "manger"--that's what Ollie calls her bassinet.

And here is a picture of Lily this afternoon--playing happily on the blanket. She has some FUNNY cross-eyed looks!!!

Out of the Blue

As many of you remember, Joel went to Ohio for Thanksgiving. While there, he talked with his incredible photographer-sister about her photobooth (Check out Karla's website here) and became mildly interested.

So, he checked into it a little bit, found out that there are NO photobooth companies here in Wichita, and decided that we could do that!

If you're not sure what a photobooth is, join the club. No, just kidding. We're learning, too. But it's something that people can rent for weddings, corporate events, parties, proms, etc. They're a lot of fun, fit many people in it, and are great party favors for guests.
So, we actually got into the Wichita Bridal show this coming weekend, and will debut as The Wichita Photobooth Company. We'll see what happens! We're hoping to get a few bookings--enough to at least justify continuing with this! But check out our website--and tell anyone you know who is getting married about us!

Oh..and if you call my phone and get that message...that's why...
