Mystery Solved

For those of you who have wondered since childhood how in the WORLD the lions DIDN'T eat Daniel....Ollie solved that for us this morning.

He grabbed our family devotion book, and said, "I'm going to read our story." He then shared:
"Jesus was in the lions den...and he FARTED!"

Hmmm...so that's why the lions mouths were closed.

Colorado Part 3

Whitewater rafting! Okay, so you've likely seen the picture of our rafting trip--here's a couple more:
Wednesday we rafted down the Arkansas River through the Royal Gorge. It was a BLAST!!! The only problem was that the 2-3 hour rafting trip turned into 5. An hour into the trip, we went over a pretty big rapid. We pulled over (being the lead raft) and waited for the others, making sure everyone got through fine. Two people from other rafts fell out of their boats, and one guys swam to his. A lady clung to a rock, and then was pulled in with a rope. Our guide got out to help her, along with another guide. Our boat stayed on the side while he checked her out.

Soon, we found out that she wasn't responding well. Sara, my sister in law and also a nurse, got out and said she had likely suffered a stroke! It took an hour and a half for 6 guides to get her to safety--they brought her to the other side of the river (on a raft!), lifted her up the side of the canyon to the railroad track where a truck picked her up and brought her to town. Our guide finally made it back (he'd gone with her) and we finished out the trip. They said this type of thing happens once a year MAYBE, and it just so happened on our trip! Crazy.

We hope to be back next year!

Colorado Part 2

After our reunion weekend, we took a day and drove through BEAUTIFUL Rocky Mountain National Park. I don't have pictures yet of that. But it included: Joel and Ollie hiking up to the top of the mountain at the visitor center (in a thunderstorm!), delicious mochas at the top, and herds of elk.

Tuesday we took a day trip to Garden of the Gods. Here are some pictures:

Colorado Part 1

The first weekend in Colorado was spent at Archer's Poudre River Resort with Joel's Smith family. We had such a good time! Lots of eating, playing cards and jumping on rocks by the river. I unfortunately don't have any pictures from that weekend. #1--I took a few as Joel, Mitch and Dave climbed HUGE rocks on a 3-hour hike BEFORE breakfast one morning--but I can't get those off my card. #2--I then LOST my camera for the next 3 days. Shoot.

Anyway--trust me. It was loads of fun.

Monday we drove through beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park. Again, don't have pictures of that. But believe me--it was nice.

More to come another day. This time, pictures will follow.

Apparently...

When we go on vacation, our garden does not.
Upon arriving home last night, we noticed our garden had a few pickings...this is what we collected from the week and a half we were gone!
