I now completely understand why my dad had a tendency to tune out during supper with 3 kids.
Ollie is a "talker". Up until recently, he was also a "big eater". The talking has now taken precedence over the eating. He no longer eats at mealtimes. He tells story after story.
We've started setting the timer after Joel and I are done so that he will eat--otherwise, he could sit there for an hour. Literally. Tonight, this ended in us taking his food before he was done.
Tears ensued, dessert was taken away.
We're out of ideas. Got any good ones to pass along?

hmmm, sort of reminds me of my sister growing up...
Well, I don't have any ideas since we rely on you guys, the more experienced parents, for ideas :) But, does this mean that Ollie will stop asking me for a snack in the middle of breakfast at our house? He'll be too busy talking to think of a snack :)
Set the table and serve his food but wait to eat until he is done. He will eventually get bored because he has no one to talk to. Good luck and god bless.
HILARIOUS! Love that boy...
p.s. when Ava doesn't eat, we put it away for later and if she wants a snack, a cold supper is what she gets :)
Oh my...that is sooo our supper time! Eli will talk and talk and we'll both be done eating before he's even taken a bite. Let me know what ends up working!!!
