I loved what I saw on Julie's blog and Jill's blog--how they had theme days with their kids. It didn't occur to me until mid-July that this could be a fun thing to do with my kids! Honestly, I think that since planning fun educational activities is my JOB, I just don't think to do it at home.
I decided to host a Fish Day for my kids and a couple others. It was a lot of fun! We started with fish puzzles that Taylor and Mason brought over.
Then, we listened to a fish book on CD. After that, we had snacks--gummy fish in blue jello.
Naturally, swimming followed. And boy, did we have some fish that day! These kids LOVED the pool!
We also had a texture tub of sea shells....it didn't quite go over like I had planned...but they did get a few fun moments with it.
We had a fun fish craft after swimming. The problem was that we had 5 INSANELY hungry kids trying to do a craft while we made lunch...the big kids did fairly well, the little ones, not so much.
Last we had lunch. What do you eat for fish day? FISH STICKS!!!
Camping Day is next. I love the idea of doing these every month--it sure mixes things up a bit!

yay! sounds fun-i wanna come! :o)
looks like so much fun!!! Wish we were in KS to participate with you! I agree...after teaching was my job, for some reason it seems difficult to come up with fun things for my own child! I hope I can get better at that.
That is such a fun idea, isn't it? It is fun when incorporated into a Sunday School lesson too.
Looks like they had a blast! Thanks again for lettting them still come over even though I couldn't be there. We can't wait for camping day!
