This summer I've had lots of time to do one of my favorite things...READ!!! I have two new books that I've just finished that I'd like to recommend to my lady readers:
1. "Captivating" by John and Stasi Eldredge
He is the author of "Wild at Heart"--the book for men. This is the women's version, kind of. Anyway--it is excellent. It is all about discovering your heart and who God truly made us to be--not the typical female roles--but who God designed us deep inside to be. It's so good. If you read it--be prepared to go deep--it addresses quite a few heart issues--but it is SO worth it. It also follows a theme that's continued to come up in my life lately--God's incredible love for us. So, if you're in need of a really encouraging book--try this one!
2. "Mom...and Loving It!" by Laurie Lovejoy Hilliard and Sharon Lovejoy Autry
This is a practical book subtitled "Finding contentment in real life". It's been a great book to read this summer, because I've struggled with the transition from working--even half time!--to staying at home all day with Ollie. It's helped me find practical ways to make the most of being a mom and has helped me deal with some frustrations that I'm sure most moms have with their kids. (Yesterday, for example, Ollie dumped the entire contents of our salt shaker on the floor.)
Not only does it deal with children--but jobs, husbands, and just real life--finding contentment with what you have. So, it's another good one to read. And it's a quick one, too!
